SUMMARY: Provide rehearsal recordings with Doug’s notes.

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Good rehearsal. Harmony backing vocals is a weakness that probably only adding singer(s) can FIX.

Here’s a zip file of all the MP3s:

NOTE: Adjust drum overhead gain up for next rehearsal.

Straight No Chaser – seems bland. I’d drop it.

All Over Now (before working backing vocals) – PLUS: Glen’s vocals are good. IMPROVE: Backing vocals are BAD. Glen blows the ending. Guitar solo is not loud enough, but for Sunday Mike Winters is bringing it.

All Over Now Chorus (all vocals) – better but not good.

All Over Now Chorus (rohn only) – NOT GOOD ENOUGH

All Over Now Chorus (doug only) – could be better. Oops didn’t make this file. I listened though. It was pitchy, but not horrible.

All Over Now Chorus (doug and glen only) – could be better

All Over Now Chorus (doug and glen and instruments) – could be better

Only Darkness – nice driving sound. Drums are exciting. IMPROVE: Glen lyrics clam V1. Bridge not everyone is playing 7s consistently. On bridge bass is just playing quarters so that’s not causing the inconsistency.

Dying Bed – nice Rohn davis introduction. Glen’s vocals really good. IMPROVE: Rohn backing vocals come in on time. Guitar intro to V2 is shorter than I remember. If we had infinite time (we don’t) we’d put the backing vocals under the microscope. Bass to play the right notes on ending Jesus gonna make up repeats.

Love Cries Mercy – likeable song especially the lyrics. Performed well enough. Rohn went more energetic of V2. IMPROVE: minor guitar tick in the intro. Seems slow. Drum roll timing off on “ain’t working” also “grabbing”, “give me what is mine”. Guitar sound could be better (not bright enough). Glen changed the lyrics and the new lyrics are not as good. Should be “nobody knows your darkness” heartbreak is a trope. Guitar solo not loud enough and guitar sound could be better (cleaner) compare with record.

Get Away From Me – mostly played well and followed the complex form. Guitar solo is loud enough. IMPROVE: Bass first bar notes are off timing. Rohn entering backing vocals on time. Guitar solo not nearly as clean as the record. Drums are exciting but miss what was intended a couple of time.

Funk 49 – Followed The Form Mostly. Likeable Song. Mike Winters will help – IMPROVE: Bass too loud (turned down in the mix you hear). Glen wanted to enter percussion break early (with jungle noise). Much better with Timbales. Let’s see if they fit. Glen comes in early from the Percussion break. Glen’s vocals are overly pitchy (and its out of the main part of his vocal range). Should be better when Glen is only singing. Rohn didn’t catch cymbals on freeze.

OOPS… I really thought I rendered this file. Where is it. Not worth the time to go back and fix this.
