SUMMARY: Provide rehearsal recordings with Doug’s notes.

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Nice mix of different sounding songs, but not ready to perform, yet. MINOR NOTE: Bass sound is much better than what we heard while rehearsing.

Fly in the ointment – POSITIVE: Not bad for a nearly month long absence. FIX: Doug be ready for solos. Work Doug’s backing vocals in. Guitar clams.

Alright Ok – POSITIVE: nice song. Sounds good during the good parts. FIX: intro Guitar sound not fat (full enough) add distortion. Chorus: Glen should sing louder. Guitar solo train wreck. Guitar solo redo (again not big and fat enough). Rohn is doubling the melody on the Chorus (a little pitchy). NOTE: I’d rather get a full take of song.

Black Bean – POSITIVE: Good guitar sound, good slide work, good solo, good lead vocals. FIX: Doug to do all his backing vocals.

Master Plan – POSITIVE: Nice sound very different from other songs. FIX: I had to boost Glen’s vocals in the mix even though the band was not any louder (probably softer). Glen could not remember the lyrics. Vocal sound: Glen is struggling to hit the high notes and you can hear it. Guitar solo is good, but long guitars are quite forgettable 60 years after they were innovative. ACTION: Glen to listen closely, compare the vocals with the record and recommend how to improve our performance.

Get Around You – POSITIVE: Clever lyrics. Drums are good and bass locks reasonably well. Pretty good performance overall. FIX: Had to bring Glen’s vocals back down. Guitar solo sound not fat or big enough (and missed notes). Backing vocals could have been louder. ACTION: Glen (and everyone) to listen carefully to where the guitar is by itself (example is the lead into the solo but there are places as well). Either it needs some drums or should be BIGGER.

I’ll Be Alright – POSITIVE: Nice intro w/cow-bell. Rohn’s vocals help the intro. Catchy song. No boring guitar solo. NOTE: I cranked up the reverb which helps Glen’s high notes. FIX: Drum clam before “When I reach my resting place”. FIX: Backing vocals. First chorus: Rohn is inconsistent and quite pitchy. Doug, surprisingly, was on key. Second chorus: About the same. When I reach too end. Doug alone sings. Rohn doesn’t remember which phrases to sing.
